Suspicious Pop-Up, Stop Klik Sembarangan!

Suspicious pop-ups are small graphical advertisements that appear unexpectedly on your computer or mobile screen while you're browsing the internet or using certain apps. Suspicious pop-ups are often more than just a visual annoyance, but rather a manipulation tactic designed to induce careless user behavior for the benefit of malicious parties.

If you click on a button or link in a suspicious pop-up, you could face the following risks:

1. Your personal identity could be exposed and misused by thieves.

2. Downloading malware that could infect your device and disrupt its operation.

3. Being redirected to a phishing site or a malicious site designed to steal sensitive data and information.

Tips to Avoid Pop-Up Scams:

1. Do Not Click Fake “X” or “Close” Buttons

Avoid clicking anything within the pop-up, including the (“X”) or “Close” button, as these are often disguised malware traps.

2. Close the Tab or Application Immediately

The safest way to avoid the threat is to close the browser tab or exit the application entirely.

3. Enable Pop-Up Blocker

Ensure that the pop-up blocker feature in your browser settings is always enabled to filter suspicious windows.

4. Perform Regular Updates & OS Patching

Keep your operating system updated regularly to close security vulnerabilities.

5. Beware of the Lure of Free Gifts

Do not be easily tempted by sudden offers, discounts, or rewards that appear too good to be true.

6. Think Critically and Stay Skeptical

If an offer sounds too good to be true, it is most likely a scam or phishing attempt.

If an incident occurs, please report it immediately to the IT SOC (Security Operation Center) team via ticketing at https://ditra.ihc.id
