Using a VPN that does not comply with company standards and policies, whether on work or personal devices, can pose significant security risks.
 

🚫 To Be Avoided 

• Using VPNs that are outside the standards established by the company 

• Installing VPN applications without IT/Security approval 

• Accessing the company network through unofficial VPNs 
   

🚫 Risk Prevention 

• Sensitive data leaks (data exfiltration): Company data can potentially be leaked undetected through unsecured VPN connections. 

• Activity logging: Some VPNs store user activity (real IP address and internet history), which can be misused or shared without the user's knowledge. 

• Spyware threats: Unofficial VPNs can potentially inject malware or spyware onto users' devices. 
   

✅ Recommended Practices 

• Use only the official VPN provided by the company 

• Access the network only through approved devices 

• Follow company security policies and standards 

• Avoid bypassing security controls 

• Report any unauthorized VPN usage
